Michael Ellis became the Conservative Member of Parliament (MP) for Northampton North (England) in May 2010.
In January 2018, Ellis became Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, and Minister for Arts, Heritage and Tourism
Previously, he served as Deputy Leader of the House of Commons (July 2016-2018) and Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Home Secretary (June 2015-July 2016).

Accepted Tobacco Hospitality
In May 2011, he accepted two tickets to the Chelsea Flower Show from Japan Tobacco International, worth £1,132.80. 1

Opposed Tobacco Control Measures in the UK
Initially Against Ban on Smoking in Cars Carrying Children
In June 2011, Ellis voted against a Private Member’s Bill banning smoking in cars carrying children.3 The bill was supported by the British Lung Foundation.4
However, in February 2014 he voted in favour of an amendment to the Government’s Children and Families Bill, which made it an offence to smoke in a vehicle when a person under 18 was present.5
Against Tobacco Display Ban
In December 2010, Ellis signed a letter demanding the Government reconsider the tobacco display ban.6
