Background

Hayes is a Professor of Education and Chair of the College of Education Research Committee at the University of Derby.1

He co-ordinates the Academy of Ideas’ Education Forum1 and is also the Founder and Director of the campaign group Academics For Academic Freedom.23

Hayes was previously a columnist for The Free Society.1 The Free Society was a campaign run by the tobacco industry front group Forest, whose website went offline around February 2015.4
