Philip Morris International ends funding commitment to the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World with final US$122.5 million grant

Philip Morris International (PMI) has terminated its longstanding funding pledge agreement with the Foundation for a Smoke-Free World (FSFW), an organisation that recent TCRG research described as a an “industry-influenced scientific lobby group”. PMI has given FSFW a final lump sum payment of $US122.5 million, enough to fund the Foundation at its current annual funding value until 2029.  

FSFW announced the news in a press release on 12th October 2023, which also announced the appointment of Clifford E. Douglas as the new President and CEO of the Foundation.
