Martin (‘Marty’) J. Barrington became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman of Altria in May 2012, when he succeeded Michael E. Szymanczyk.1
Barrington retired in May 2018 and was succeeded by Howard A. Willard III.2
On 24 April 2019 Barrington was appointed Chairman of alcohol giant Anheuser-Busch InBev.3

Long-Standing Career in the Tobacco Industry

Barrington joined Philip Morris USA in 1993 and Philip Morris International in 2003. He has since held numerous leadership roles in the tobacco industry, including:45

  • President of Altria (2015 – 2018)
  • Director of Altria Group (2012 – 2018)
  • Vice Chairman, Altria (since 2011)
