Lord Simon Cairns was a non-executive director of British American Tobacco from 1990 until he was made chairman in 1995.1

Cairns was a founder member of the Commonwealth Business Council (now the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council) and was a board member of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation until 2016.2

In March 2011, BAE Systems appointed him to an advisory role on its ethical responsibilities.3
