How to search Tobacco Tactics

This page was last edited on at

There are two main ways to explore the content available on TobaccoTactics.org:

  1. Search Engine
  2. Tobacco Tactics Categories

Tobacco Tactics Search Engine

You’ll find the search bar at the top of our Homepage. To begin a search, just type your query into the box and press enter, or click on the magnifying glass symbol. You can use single words, strings of words, or sentences.

The search engine will provide a list of all the pages that contain the search term in either the title or the page itself. It will also direct you to any documents that match your search terms.

On your search results page, you will be able to filter results. You can choose to only view Tobacco Tactics pages, STOP resources or both, and filter by news items or TCRG research outputs.

You can also sort your results by most recent by selecting sort by date.

Browsing by Tobacco Tactics Categories

At the top of the homepage, you will find our key categories:

You can also find more categories under our Popular Topics on the Homepage, or browse all topics from this page.

How categories work

Clicking on any of these categories leads you to a list of all pages under each category, as well as sub-categories. For example, the category Companies and Products contains the sub-category Tobacco Companies, which then contains the category British American Tobacco.

Some categories have featured pages at the very top, to help you access the most relevant page for that topic:

Each and every page on the Tobacco Tactics website is categorised, so that it can be found. This means that each page is labelled with categories that relate to the content of that page. You can see the category labels at the very bottom of each page, including this page. Every page has more than one relevant category attached to it. Another way to browse the site by category is to click on these labels at the bottom of each page.

For instance, Colin Wragg was senior UK corporate and legal affairs manager at Imperial Tobacco, which earns him the category Tobacco Industry People, while his job to focus on the countering Plain Packaging puts him in that category as well. Accordingly, his name will feature in the lists of pages of both categories: the list of Tobacco Industry People and the list of pages on Plain Packaging.
