Neil Withington was the Director for Legal affairs and General Counsel at British American Tobacco (BAT).1
In April 2015 he left the tobacco company.1

Career at BAT and Reynolds American

Withington joined BAT as Senior Mergers and Acquisitions Lawyer in 1993, following a legal career in the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. He has held several leadership positions, including:1

  • Legal and Security Director and General Counsel of British American Tobacco (2000-2015)
  • Deputy General Counsel (1998 – 2000)
  • Assistant General Counsel and Head of Product Liability (1996 – 1998)

Withington was also a Director of Reynolds American Inc. (RAI) from July 2004 until 2014.2 Ricardo Oberlander succeeded Withington on the RAI Board.3
