Mark Williamson joined Imperial Tobacco’s Board in 2007, and became
Chairman in February 2014 when he succeeded Iain Napier.12
At the company’s 2019 Annual General Meeting 18% of shareholders voted against Williamson’s re-election, reportedly due to concerns that Williamson had taken up too many Board positions elsewhere. 3
On 5 November 2019 Imperial Tobacco announced that Williamson would be succeeded by Thérèse Esperdy, effective 1 January 2020.4
