Jacek Olczak was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Philip Morris International (PMI) in May 2021. 1 Olczak succeeded André Calantzopoulos, who became Executive Chairman of the PMI Board.
In announcing Olczak’s appointment, PMI stressed his experience in developing its newer nicotine and tobacco products into new markets and in particular IQOS.2
Olczak was previously Chief Operating Officer at PMI from January 20183 and beforethat Chief Financial Officer at PMI in 2012, succeeding Hermann Waldemer.4
In September 2017, the tobacco company announced that Olczak would take on the role as Chief Operating Officer, effective 1 January 2018.5
Long-Standing Career with Philip Morris
Olczak joined PMI in 1993 as Manager Finance and Administration, and has held several leadership positions, including:
- Chief Financial Officer (2012)
- President European Union Region (2009)
- Managing Director for Germany and Austria (2006)
- Managing Director Poland and Baltic States (2004)
Olczak lives in Switzerland and holds a master’s in economics from the University of Lodz, Poland.
