The tobacco industry has been using tactics like influencing science, using seemingly independent third parties, and pushing arguments against taxation for decades.

Now, new research by the Tobacco Control Research Group exposes more tactics used by the industry to keep people addicted and maintain high profits.

A new systematic review published in the Tobacco Control journal exposes a variety of sophisticated pricing strategies used by the industry to undermine the most effective form of tobacco control: taxation.

At the same time, as a BMJ opinion piece co-authored by TCRG researchers explains, the industry continues to fund seemingly independent research via the Foundation for a Smoke Free World.
