Background

The All Party Parliamentary Small Shops Group (APPSSG) says that its remit is to “highlight the concerns of the smaller retailer (as distinct from large multiples) and to draw attention to their social as well as economic role.” [1]

Current Officers

The officers are:

  • Vice-Chair: Lord Cotter (Liberal Democrat);
  • Treasurer: Andrew Percy (Conservative);
  • Secretary: Peter Aldous (Conservative);

Secretariat

The Association of Convenience Stores (ACS) and the National Federation of Retail Newsagents, which both receive or have received tobacco industry funding, provide the secretariat for the APPSSG on behalf of The Independent Retailers Confederation (IRC). [2]
